Domestic Trade and Industry

I am in full support of the ministry to issue fines and jail sentences to traders who display beverages at a price which is lower than what customers actually paying. It is a sin as it will only jeopardise the image of the country. What am I concerning is the honesty of those traders.

I do understand that the government have mentioned that there will be a pay rise for all civil servant. However, it does not mean that traders would have the liberty to increase the price of goods without displaying it on the board. That was really naughty of them to ask customer to pay more without any justification in the increase in beverage prices. I think it goes the same to food prices too. What traders normally do is to ask customers to pay more than what it is displayed on the board in the shop.

The reason why am I saying this is because recently two traders have bee fined by the ministry for overcharging customers and one trader even had jail sentence served upon him. Well, I am not saying whether it is justified to serve the trader for any jail sentence but a fine is justiciable. After reading through The Star Online this morning, I found out that a trader was fined RM22,500 for overcharging customers. Wow... It is like what we have here in the UK...After the show Whistleblower.

There was a programme on the television in regard to the expiry date of goods in supermarkets all over UK.

They did mention about Tesco and Sainsburys. What they don't know is that there are many expired products were still being sold at their premesis. That is a little bit too much. What customer does not know is that they are buying expired products thinking that the product is still consumable without any risk of poisoning. Oh well, it is time for the big guns to really take the initiative to get down to reducing products like bread and dairy products.
