Digi.com - A new winner in Asia?

If you noticed,Digi.com is fast becoming a household name in mobile network and broadband. In fact, they are the first company in Malaysia to roll out Pay-as-you-go service back in 1997 (within East Malaysia) and one year later, in West of Malaysia. They do have the backing of Telenor ASA which holds 51% shares in Digi.com. However, recently, Telenor ASA have decided to sell some of its share (by 12%) and it worries some analysts.

As for me, I don't think we need to worry too much about it. The company is growing and as for this year, the company managed to put itself as the most profitable company in the region! What can you say more about that? Digi was also voted the operator and data operator of the year (2007). In fact, for the past few years, Digi was also voted data operator of the year since 2005. I have no reason to suspect that the reason why Telenor is moving out due to the instability of the company.

On the contrary, I think Telenor is moving out because they want to diversify in other companies! That is why... We will have to see about that in he future. You can also look at the news today here.

I can say that Digi will eventually be the winner of mobile network in Malaysia and also in the ASEAN region. Wait and see...

Perhaps Digi would have to think about a bigger fish - competing with Vodafone perhaps?
