For instance, Vista has better GUI inteface but that is the most important thing, right? Better graphics (Aero) and better security (Defender , Firewall)? Nope. The good thing about using Vista is that you get Readyboost. Yet, I don't see the benefit of using it. I have tried using a Toshiba which was equipped with 1GB of Turbo memory (Readyboost) and I don't see the speed over non Readyboost. Perhaps I am not using any professional benchmark to see it but I can tell from using it. One good thing about using Vista is that you don't get blue screen of death in a big fashion. When you do get a blue screen of death, it will only show you in a small column. Much better in perspective, right?
The bad thing about using Vista is - you need an up to date computer before you can actually see the benefit. Although Microsoft have stated that Vista can run on 1GB of memory, realistically, you need a comfortable 2GB of memory. CPU wise, anything using the Core 2 Duo or AMD X2 will be fine.
Vista is power hungry and it does not support many drivers. Trust me on this. If I were given the choice, I will be ready to go back to XP but the manufacturer told me that the laptop which I have now does not have any support for XP drivers. Could you understand that? I don't.
