Hurray! Finally I've Made It!

Remember some time ago where by I was really tired of installing Windows XP onto my laptop because Sony has not released any XP drivers for my model? Well, I have been told that they will never release any XP drivers for my model at all. Okay.. That was fine... Until last night.

I was really angry with Sony for not releasing a downgrade option for most of their VAIO range. I did not give up and last night... For the very first time in months, I have made it. I have managed to downgrade a FZ21Z from Vista to Windows XP Professional. Bear in mind that I do not have a floppy drive on my laptop and I managed to include the SATA driver into the Windows XP CD. Impressive? Oh yes...

If you want to downgrade your FZ21Z from Windows Vista to XP, you need a programme called nLite. You also need your original Windows XP CD. After installing the nLite, you need to locate your source file (Windows XP) so that the programme will be able to copy Windows XP and placed it on the hard drive. Bear in mind that you need about 600MB of space to do this. After that, you need to click on the drive option within nLite and click next. Add the SATA driver from FZ29 and proceed. After that, you will have to come out of the programme.

Restart nLite again and then click on 'last session' and move on to integrate the driver and click next. After that, make an iso file out of it. After doing that, you need to restart the programme again and then burn the iso onto a blank CD. Make sure that you make the CD a bootable one. Good luck!

I just bought my FZ21Z 2 days ago and was going through hell to find out how to downgrade OS from Vista to Windows XP. Thanks for your blog, it is going to be big help. By the way, you did not mention how you solved the problem of device drivers for Windows XP. It would be highly appreciated if you could share the solution as well. Again, thanks a bunch.
