First of all, I think OPEC thinks that they are producing too much of petrol and diesel at the moment. They are scared that oil will run out faster than expected.
Secondly, if they were to increase production, it will only mean low income for its 13 OPEC members.
Thirdly, as you know that crude oil is actually one of our natural resources. There is no immediate reason to increase supply. Furthermore I don't think the alternative to petrol and diesel are commercialised. They do not need to worry about it.
I think Bush should just cut down on any deployment of his troops. Then he will be able to control the crude oil in the USA alone.

He wouldn't do much constructive work from now on, it's Honeymoon year for him before he makes his exit on the 29th of January 2009.
Oh well, the country is coming into recession now. I hope that he is doing something good for the country.
