Well, it is the same to the Nokia N95 8GB. Vodafone was the first network provider to offer the unit too. Well, as far as I know, the Nokia E71 is superb. Gone are the days where by you have to really manage the big screen E61i into your pocket. With the screen size of approximately 2.8" on the E61i, it is really hard to fit it inside your pocket. Besides, it looks like a calculator anyway.
As for the E71, it is different. The E71 has been transformed into a sleek and sexy phone. Screen size is down to 2.34" diagonally but that is alright when you consider the quality which you are getting - A QVGA screen at 16 Million colours! That is great! You also get the usual 2.0 bluetooth with EDR (stereo bluetooth), infra red and mini usb for transferring data between the pc and the mobile phone. If push mail, Quadband GSM and dualband UTMS does not impress you, what about 130g then? Will it impress you? 10 hours standby time on GSM frequencies? What about that then? Will it impress you? I think so. I was impressed by the standby time.
In fact, I was really disappointed with the standby time of the E90. I had the firmware flashed to the latest (version 210) but yet the battery died in eight hours. Guess what? When I took control of the Nokia E71, I went through the same test as the E90 and the phone sail through! At the end of the day, I can still see that there is still five bars left on the battery meter. I only need to recharge the phone at the end of the second day.
In fact, I was carried away by the beauty of the E71 that I logon much longer than the E90. On the E90, I only had maximum of 60 minutes of internet surfing but on the E71, I was on the internet for around 180 minutes with connections switched on all the time! Can you imagine the power of the E71 couple with the mighty 1500mAh battery which was fitted on the E90? It is powerful!!! I have to say that I am pretty impressed with the battery performance.
The E71, after all, is not invincible. It has its own downside too although I feel that the Blackberry Bold 9000 could not beat the E71. The menu system is a little bit weird. I am quite used to the E90 menu system though. However, I would have to say that I can now browse faster, thanks to the accelerated browsing method by the Symbian OS.
No doubt that the E71's cpu is a single core and it has no match with the E90's OMAP 2420 cpu which is a dual core design, yet, I do not find any noticeable delays on the E71's part. As usual, the SYmbian OS is equipped with many third party applications which are ready to be downloaded. I just love applications, unlike the blackberry where it is so rare to find some good application softwares to use. As for the Symbian OS, you have a choice though. It is all up to you... I have looked at the Blackberry Bold but I still like the Nokia E71.You can also check this page out.
