Samsung N510

Remember the much hyped Nvidia Ion? To recap, the Nvidia Ion is a graphics platform designed to boost netbook's graphics capabilities which were traditionally dominated by Intel's GMA 950 or GMA 500. The Nvidia Ion platform is crucial to increase netbook's graphics performances.

Traditionally, with Intel's dominance across the netbook range, you don't see any netbooks with HD capabilities (apart from some of the Asus's Eee PC range which will cost you a bomb). Now, with the Nvidia Ion platform, the gimmick here is that OEM will stuff an Nvidia Gforce 9400M inside a netbook to boost its graphics capabilities. Now, doesn't it sounds nice? Yes, indeed. Early reports of the Gforce 9400M on a netbook looks promising. It will surely increase the excitement of many netbook users!

I am sure that you all have been told that Lenovo's S12 will be the first netbook to be launched in the UK with the Nvidia Ion platform. Well, apparently not. The release was put backwards to the end of this year so I believe we have our first netbook with Nvidia's Ion platform - The Samsung N510!!!

The Samsung N510 comprises of an Intel Atom N280 (1.66Ghz, 512KB L2 cache, HT) and it is also equipped with 1GB of DDR2 memory. The Gforce 9400M will join in the fun as a fast 160GB hard disk will provide the necessary storage. No internal optical drive will be provided as it is a netbook but it comes with a wireless N adaptor and bluetooth. It sports a 3-in-1 memory card reader and comes with a 11.6" widescreen! Wow! That will be a first for Samsung after their legendary NC20! It comes with Windows XP Home and a six-cell battery which will provide around five hours of juice. It will cost around £500 which is a big increase from the Sammy NC20!!!

Stay tuned!!!
