1 second boot up Windows...A reality?

When you talk about booting up time irrespective of whether you are running on Windows Xp, Vista or 7 RC, it makes you feel the pain in waiting for your machine to boot into desktop. How long does it take for your laptop to boot up to Windows? 45 seconds? 60 seconds? 2 minutes? Well, it takes me around 40 seconds for my to be able to do anything on my laptop after loading all the necessary applications. Well, 45 seconds is quite a long time, do you think so? I am hoping that some day someone will be able to invent something which will cut down on the waiting time.

Some people is saying that to cut down on the waiting time, they have to use a better OS like the Windows 7 for instance. There are some other people who suggested that we use better memory, hard drive (e.g. SSD), CPU and graphics card. Well, someone came up with the idea of an instant boot.

Remember Linux? They have stated that it is possible to initiate an instant boot for people who are running on Linux. Oh well, it is not a reality because Linux distributions now days take more than 40 seconds to boot up.

Phoenix came up with a solution. They have come up with an instant boot BIOS. You can have a quick look here. I am pretty impressed with the result!!! I hope that my Dell Studio will be able to boot up in less than 2 seconds! That will be brilliant, isn't it? Well, with 8GB DDR2 SODIMM and an SSD with 512MB ATI 4570 graphics card, I think it is quite possible to be able to reduce boot time to less than 2 seconds. Let's hope that Dell will incorporate such technology. Fingers crossed!!!
