Stimulus Package - USA

I think The Republicans should suck it up to Obama and approve what he wants to do. See, he is, so far, a man of his word. He started by drawing out a plan to close down the infamous Guantanomo Bay prison. He then ask both houses for a $825 billion stimulus package to help the country to be released from the clutches of economic downturn. The question is, did he ask for more money for employing troops?

Nope, he did not. He is a man who will change and we should believe in him. Just imagine, a person of his caliber, he should be given the hands of praise. Even the Iranian president spoke highly of him before he was struck down by his own counterpart in Iran as he was seen to be on the amendments with the USA. I think it is time for a change everybody. We need to be united to overcome not only the worst economic downturn since the great depression, the worst fear of wars and poverty in many countries.

What we need is peace and harmony. Look at the great Barack Obama, he has touched many people - He embrace people with open arms. That is a first after President Bill Clinton step down back in the 1990s. For ten years when President Bill Clinton was the president of USA, there were no significant wars and major tragedies in the USA. Do you agree with me? I think people of the world should come out and be reasonable. The big boss is out now and trying to solve problems over here so I think other leaders should be reasonable too. He is a man with many thoughts. He is also a smart person. We should encourage him and be supportive to him.

What do you think about it then? The Republicans should just approve the stimulus package. If not, how are they going to solve the economic problems then? Can Bush do it? I don't think so. Obama is cutting back on troops deployment. I think the people will be really happy especially family members of those soldiers involved in the deployment will finally see that their loved ones back home. Welcome home son!!! I think USA do not need to deploy too many soldiers when they themselves need to help themselves. Come home son!!!

All Hail President Obama

After reading this page, I have to tell you that I am really impressed with the way how the new USA President is going about doing his job. I wish him well. I am sure that he has a mountain of stuff to sort out but eventually, I think he will make it. You can't really resolve something overnight, right? There is something called miracle. I think that it is his motto. We have to believe in him. In God we trust? Yes, we also put out hands out to reach him - Obama... Long live Obama!!!

Obama Rocks!!!

I remember what Martin Luther said in his famous speech - I have a dream. Oh yes!!! Now is the right time! We need a change, we need someone who can really do his or her work. We need someone to be proactive! Who else? Obama!!! Jay-z was really cool in supporting Obama. I think he is right. We need a change to make America a better place to live.

Well, not many people share their views. I don't agree. This is because we need the fire in Obama's eyes to take America out of the recession and to spur market confidence. When America prosper, all other countries will also benefit from it. Good!!!

Senator Clinton - No.2 Spot?

It was such an unfortunate day that Senator Clinton has lost her race for the top spot in becoming the first ever woman president in the United States of America. It would deemed be wonderful, don't you think so? Oh well, the driving seat in the Democratic party belongs to Mr. Obama as he will be driving Democrates to the White House in November 2008.

I do wish him good luck although I am a strong Clinton supporter. I guess that there is nothing which people can do much about it since most of the superdelegates have chosen their presidential candidate for the coming month's election. I do understand that Senator Clinton is a tough nut to crack and she is really hardworking. I just hope that Senator Obama will invite Senator Clinton to be his number 2. In this case, at least her hardwork will pay off, don't you think so?

05/06/2008: It is true that Senator Clinton has admitted defeat. She will end her bid to become the first ever woman president of the United States of America and concentrate in backing Obama as you can see here. So close but yet defeated... Never mind... Life goes on.

Angel Diaz

I was watching the execution of Angel Diaz by lethal injection which took 34 minutes before he expired. Well, there was a state of shock when experts said that death by lethal injection would only take a few minutes. However, in the programme, the execution took too long and capital punishment in Florida was stopped until further investigation.

The thing is that by the 8th Amendment to the Constitution stated that any cruel and inhuman treatment to anyone is banned. The question is how people living in the United States still use capital punishment? You can say that those people who are going through the execution process is justified because they killed people - They took other peopleś life. My question is: How sure are you? Just imagine one man - Angel Diaz, was imprisoned for 27 years before he was put to death. In the programme, he was actually tortured before he passed away. What? Can you do that to anyone?

That is so inhuman! I do not understand the whole process but I surely know that it is not a pretty sight. I really hope that capital punishment is banned...

Please please America

I am quite shocked to hear that America lost another 63,000 jobs due to the economic crisis. Policy makers better come up with a good plan to drive America out of recession. I don't think America is in recession but I really hope that the economy will recover. This is because we see that America is the so called 'leader' in economy wise. They need to stick together and be a leader to other countries.

Recently we saw the dollar weakens against the Yen and also the British Pounds. No good at all. They need to drive the economy. I think the best way is to limit the printing of one hundred dollar bill for a start. That will do something good for the economy.

President Clinton?

Oh yes, we can see that Senator Clinton in gaining ground on Obama for the presidency candidate after winning in Ohio and Texas. People are very scared that the race for presidency will go on to the Super Delegate stage. I think it is just too much damage for the party, don't you say so? What Obama and Clinton is going through is actually going to destroy the Democrates! I don't really want people in the United States to suffer as a result of two people fighting for a seat in the presidency game. This is not good. I don't want John McCain to have an easy victory here. Common people...Don't destroy each other!!!

Bush - "Please Increase Oil Production"

Looking at this page, it makes me wonder why OPEC chairman does not want to increase oil production even after Bush pleaded with them. Oh well, I think there are numerous factors in which OPEC members decided to ignore his plea.

First of all, I think OPEC thinks that they are producing too much of petrol and diesel at the moment. They are scared that oil will run out faster than expected.

Secondly, if they were to increase production, it will only mean low income for its 13 OPEC members.

Thirdly, as you know that crude oil is actually one of our natural resources. There is no immediate reason to increase supply. Furthermore I don't think the alternative to petrol and diesel are commercialised. They do not need to worry about it.

I think Bush should just cut down on any deployment of his troops. Then he will be able to control the crude oil in the USA alone.

Rush for the new American President

My heart is just boiling. I am so eager to see who is going to win on tuesday during the selection for the new American President. Is it going to be Hilary Clinton or Obama? I am just waiting for the answer. If Hilary Clinton win, it would mean that she will be the very first female president of the USA. If Obama were to win, he will be the very first black president to rule USA. That would be interesting, right? Let's hope so. Wish them good luck!

Revival of the Economy

Having read the title, it is not something new to many people anymore. As we can see, shares in the NYSE is tumbling down and the people are facing a tougher credit crunch. It is a sign that the economy is slowing down. With many property unsold, I am wondering whether the US economy is going to progress further under the Bush administration.

Oh well, not to worry because he would have to leave the Oval when his term ends. He has been a president for two terms and I think that is all that he could do. The US market needs some stimulation or rather support by the Bank of America. What the 'big guns' could do is to pump in more money into the market so that it will provide a boast to the economy. That is more realistic. It is just like in the UK where the Bank of England came to the rescue of Northern Rock and lent around £26 million pounds so far to Northern Rock. I think slowly but surely Northern Rock will be sold to a private company or a group of companies.

Anyway, I really hope that the credit crunch will end soon. It is just so unfair to see that the economy is slowing down. That is not a good sign...

Sanctions on Iran- will it work?

The US have decided to impose sanctions on Iran by not allowing US companies to have any ties with the Revolutionary guard. It was a step to deter any economy improvement in Iran and they would have no choice but got to stop processing any uranium enriched materials.

The argument from the US counterpart is that they accused Iran of hiding nuclear building materials and will use uranium to build weapons of mass destruction (had we have enough of this?). This time, the US government hopes that by cutting Iran's supply of cash will deter or cut down any form of support for terrorism.

I have no idea about it. What I can see from previous sanctions against North Korea worked because North Korea is so much isolated and they need external help and will not be able to help themselves at that point. Well, I don't think the situation have change since the sanction has drop against North Korea.

As for Iran, they are more hard headed. They will not give up easily. They do know that sanctions worked against North Korea but will it work for Iran? It did not work for them during the fifteen years of civil war. What would it takes to make it work if US is imposing economic sanctions against Iran?

What the US government want is simple - lay down their nuclear programme and help the world to fight terrorist. Will they listen to US? Will the sanctions work?

China row over US (update)

BEIJING (Reuters) - China slammed the United States on Thursday for awarding the Dalai Lama one of its highest honours and summoned the U.S. ambassador in Beijing to complain, saying its actions had "gravely undermined" relations.

The Dalai Lama, who has lived in exile in India since fleeing his predominantly Buddhist homeland in 1959 after a failed uprising against Communist rule, received the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal from President George W. Bush on Wednesday.

China, which considers the Dalai Lama a separatist, had already denounced the award as a "farce" that would hurt relations between Beijing and Washington.

"The move of the United States is a blatant interference in China's internal affairs, hurts the feelings of the Chinese people and has gravely undermined relations between China and the United States," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a news conference.

"We urge the United States to take concrete steps to remove the terrible impact of its erroneous actions."

Liu did not elaborate on how the United States might repair the damage, saying only that Washington was "very aware of what kind of steps it can take".

Many in Tibet consider the Dalai Lama their spiritual leader but any allegiance to him in the tightly controlled region risks harsh repression.

Liu said that before the Communists took control of Tibet, the Dalai Lama was responsible for a "dark and cruel" system of serfdom.

After he fled, "he never ceased conniving and manipulating Tibetans abroad with actions aimed at splitting China".

Underscoring the sensitivity of the Tibet issue within China, Liu's earlier comments on the Dalai Lama's award were removed from transcripts on the Foreign Ministry's Web site.

The Dalai Lama told a packed audience in the U.S. Capitol he had "no hidden agenda" in seeking greater autonomy but not independence for his Himalayan homeland.

He said Beijing's depiction of his motives was "unfounded and untrue" and asked U.S. supporters to convince China he was sincere.

In Washington, Bush called on China to open talks with the Dalai Lama, but Liu poured cold water on such a prospect.

"As we can see from the activities of the Dalai Lama, I do not find any sincerity in him," he said.

China and envoys of the Dalai Lama have held several rounds of dialogue, but they have yet to bridge any distance on the issue of how Tibet should be governed or whether the Dalai Lama will eventually be allowed to return.

The United States is the latest country after Germany and Australia to incur the wrath of Beijing over visits this year by the Dalai Lama.

Troops pulling out from Iraq

I was really happy to know that US troops are pulling out of Iraq in a year or two. This is a good news. I think it is just good to let the Iraqi police to deal with the situation knowing that it is time for them to be independent.

I do understand the complications surrounding the attacks and murders within Iraq itself. You know...You can read the news that car bombs killed many people each and everyday. In the news, it is also a well known fact that people are still committing suiside by blowing themselves in the middle of a crowd! How could they do this. It is not a wise choice after all... I don't understand why would they want to hurt other people especially those people who were killed were the suiside bomber's countrymen! I really don't understand.

Is it due to the fact that the country is not united? Well, it is a good question then. How to unite the country? Well, we have a democratic court and a parliament in Iraq but I am not sure whether the peace process in Iraq is working or not. I think in the name of peace, we should just leave the rest for the Iraqi to deal with the situation as they are the best person to solve the problem. We have done our job and it is high time for our troops to come back. What do you think?
