Big Time Corruption in Malaysia

Reading through The Star online, I was really shocked to hear regarding the allegation of a senior politician accepting RM5 million to secure the release of a few people under the Emergency Ordinance. Oh no... There we go again. What is this? Well, clearly it is corruption, right?

Terrible! I wished that the person who is responsible will be brought to justice as soon as possible. Sometimes it is quite difficult to pinpoint the person who is responsible for the crime which the individual has committed. Tough but nontheless, it is still a crime.

Corruption has been a focus in the news for some times in Malaysia. Under the new leadership of Abdullah Badawi, he has promised to stamp out corruption and to listen to the people. Well, for the last four years has been quite interesting. I am saying this is because he live up to his word! He is like a peacemaker. He listens to the people. That is why Barisan Maalysia sweep around ninety percent of the votes in the last election. They are good. As far as I know, the people in Malaysia are happy because we have a PM who is listening to the people.

However, having said that, there are cause of concern among some quarters in the community regarding the effectiveness of the current PM to carry out his promise to the people. Listening to the people's voice is one matter and being able to carry out the prople's request is another matter. I really hope that he will be able to carry out what is most important to the people.

I am really happy that he has so far managed to stamp out corruption. At least we can see many cases of people getting charged for committing corruption.

Having said that, what is more important than corruption is the country's ecnomoy. If there is no strong foundation or purpose for foreign investors to remain in the country, they will leave the country. Without foreign investors is really hard to ensure that the country's economy will grow. Don't you think so?

Good job to Badawi and his team for the latest effort!!!
