Well, I am not sure how far it is true but all I can say is that the Malaysian stock market has increased its holdings throughout the whole of last year. Even though the market took a fall recently due to profit taking, nevertheless, I have confidence that the economy will pick up. After all, it is for the greater good.
I have heard from reliable sources telling me that there are not many people who are keen in going to small shops to buy their provisions anymore. They are now going to big shopping complexes like Tesco to buy their stuff. Oh no... Tesco again. Can't we just drop that supermarket? It is everywhere!!! In fact, it is so popular until they have opened a few more superstores in Malaysia! Oh no... What is going to happen to small shops then? They are going to disappear?
Never!!!
I do believe that there is a key to allow a small shop to survive. One key factor is that you need to be competitive with big shops. Besides that, you need to sell innovative products and also prices would have to be reasonable. In that sense, you will survive. No matter how big a supermarket is, if you can maintain your customer level, you will be able to survive.
Personally, I don't really go to Tesco to buy all my stuff. I would rather pay a visit to my local shops to buy groceries. It is near to my house and convenient. When you have build up your customer level, you will also be privileged to have some discount from the owners of the shops.
All these things boil down to one thing - Networking. Once you have build up your image, you will have a good chance of succeess. Ofcause there are people who wants to bring you down along the way but stick to your guns and you will be alright.
I think the Malaysian economy will be alright in the short run. I am not sure about long term effect though. Can someone please enlighten me in this area? Thanks!
