Beef Imports

I do welcome the Malaysian government's stand to break up the Malaysian beef imports monopolised by certain Indian companies. It was a good move by the government to do so. I guess the move came by when the Indian exporters increased the price of beef export to 40%.

I strongly welcome the government's move. I mean, there are many beef exporters out there and we do not need to stick to one. The main reason for breaking up the monopoly is that it will increase competition among the beef exporters and so consumers will benefit in the end.

It is so good to see that at least something has been done regarding anti-competition in Malaysia. I really hope that Malaysia will implement its anti-competition law soon. This is because with the anti-competition law in place, the chance of any sort of monopoly will be minimised. Well, it also depends on the efficiency of any enforcement if we were to see whether the legislation is actually working. Fingers crossed!!!
