The End of 1 cent coin?

The government is stepping up to save a lot of money coming 1 April 2008 when the one cent coin will no longer be legal tender after that. Hum... That is about time that the government do something about it. I think following the Australian system will be a wise choice as it will save the government a lot of money as it cost the government 4.2 cents to make one 1 cent coin, which, people can actually melt the copper and sell it. I think the government does not want people to take advantage of the situation.

Will it benefit the consumer? Well, not sure yet. We have to see about it in the future.

Good lah, the one cent coin is such a nuisance but i wander how it will be when we need to pay a few one cent coin for taxes at restaurants. What happens when the taxt is 3 cents or 4 cents 0r lesser than 10 cents? Are consumers going to be on a loosing end?

tell you what. i think the government might want to melt those one cent coins back to copper and sell it. After all, the price of copper has risen to 400% above their original price for the last ten years!
