Price increase - Can we manage it?

After reading through this page, the government is acknowledging the problems that people are facing nowdays. Although the people knew that there is a steady increase of two percent of major prices of goods every year, the real impact on the economy seemed to have snow-ball and made prices go up even higher than expected. That left economist wondering whether people are couping well with the price increase.

What can I say? I don't think a person will be able to coup with the increased price of essential items like clothings and food with the same amount of take home pay. Unless they get more in their salary over the years, I don't think consumers will feel nothing when prices of good goes up. There is a significant impact on the economy and also the consumer spending.

I am not sure how the government is going to solve this problem but perhaps they should not always put a ceiling in every single things that consumers are purchasing. One good example will be petrol. We know that petrol prices have never decrease over the years. In fact, you will only experience price increase over the years and it is gradually on the rise as the year goes by.

Perhaps the government should allow free market to determine the price of the petrol then. What do you think?
