Mcgregor

After reading through Mcgregor's theory about human relationship, I have gathered that there are certain groups of people in UK today who are mainly falling within the realms of Theory X and not Theory Y. you might ask me why and that is why I am going to tell you so. what is important is that we need to think about what people are thinking of.


We need to build the society. even the government agreed that they need to do more for the society. wait for a moment. We do have a problem here. There are people who are not in the mood to learn. What is important is that the government needs to drive those people out of their comfort zone. Otherwise there will be no advancement in the economy. Theory X which is suggested by McGregor mentioned that those people who belong in this category will only be willing to work if they are being asked to or being forced to do it. That is why the government is so keen in bringing the level of people under benefit down. I can appreciate that very much because we need to ensure that everyone should be educated and secure a good job. However, that is not the case over here now. Otherwise the government will not be forcing people to go back to work and stay off from benefits, right?


I think there are many reasons as to why people does not want to work. One of which is the fact that they don't get the satisfaction from where they are working. Managers might not be providing them with the proper care and motivation. If they just work for the sake of the money, employees will leave the work place. I don't think that it is good for a company to have a high turnover rate. It shows that there is a problem working at the work place. We need to address the problem and should do it as soon as possible.


On the other hand, Theory Y suggest that those people who falls under this category would be those people who are self taught and self motivated. They do not need other people to tell them what to do. They are self motivated. What is important is that they will want the reward after they have achieved the goal. For those people who falls under this category will have no problem in getting what they want and they are ambitious. They know what to do and the best thing of all is that they are appreciated. We need to have good employers too!
