CLP is to be SCRAPPED!

Hurray! Finally the government is going to scrap CLP for a better Bar Course in Malaysia! According to The Star, the government is going to replace CLP with Common Bar Course and also Common Bar Exam. Well, I am not sure what do they mean but it might just be the case where by the Malaysian government wants students to choose whether they want to be a barrister or a solicitor and it is no longer a fused system, i.e. advocate and solicitor. It will be really good as they are going to follow the English system now. Hopefully, it will be a reality as I just could not wait for it!!!

CLP is well known to be a tough exam and only less than 30% of students who take the exam will pass each year. Well, I hope that the new exam will be much approachable.

I don't think we will follow the English system. I assume that you would take the Common Bar Exam after you take the Common Bar Course.

If that is the case, it would mean that the Malaysian Bar is still going ahead with the fused system. Good work!

This is Malaysia we are talking about, they just change the name of the exams but the rigid system remains. It's always the case in Malaysia, they change names but not rebrand or reconstruct. The same flaws will remain. Nothing to be excited about.

I am sure that by changing the name will require some sort of changes in the examination system, right? Otherwise there is no need to change the name at all. Oh well, I don't know about the new system though. I hope that the new system will be more vocational rather than just to pass five papers.
