Overclocking Q6600 (update)

After overclocking my beloved Q6600 for a month (to 3.0Ghz), I can see that the machine is doing fine even though I might be expecting an increase in my electricity bill. There is nothing which I can see where it hurts. One thing for sure, I can hear the humming noise coming from my Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 which I was about to upgrade to Freezer Xtreme. It is quite difficult to get your hands on the Freezer Xtreme as it is all sold out. Not even Yoyotech has stock. This is quite alarming. Where is the Freezer Xtreme?

I managed to track down one Freezer Xtreme from Ariapc.co.uk but I was told that they are also out of stock. Oh well, same goes to overclockers.co.uk. I mean, where is the product? It is launched a month ago and I can't find it anywhere. This is so disturbing.

Oh well, I managed to find one, finally, which set me £45 for a piece. I know that the Artic Cooling Freezer Xtreme is quoted around £35 on the internet but it is a shop that I bought it from so I would have to pay for their fix cost and variable cost including their overheads. I can understand that. Mind you, I am still using the good old 4X 1GB DDR2-800 Kingston memory at 1066 speed (overclocked from 800mhz). It is quite stable at that rate. I think it is marvellous!

I would have to say that my 770W EZ Cool PSU is doing its job well. I think it will be better if I stick to Freezer Xtreme because most of the noise come from the HSF. On the whole, Windows XP Professional seems to be running properly without any hiccups except for a minor problem - IE 8 beta 2. Not many websites can render IE 8 beta 2 properly so I would have to change it to compatibility mode permanently. When I do that, I would have an error message whenever I try to switch off the computer. No harm done but I think the problem lies with IE 8's compatibility switch. Good luck Microsoft!!! What's next? Windows 7? I'd give it a thought before I try it. Geez, Thanks!
