Chat Clients

I am sure that if some of you were to own any Symbian S60 devices will know that with the help of internet browsing, you too, can chat with friends and widen your friend network by using some third part applications. I am here to introduce you to two S60 applications.

The very first application which I am going to introduce you to is fring. I am sure that some of you would have come across this software which could be downloaded and installed into your mobile phone (s60 devices like the Nokia N95). It does not need you to sign the software. Just pop your browser to www.fring.com and download the software into your pc and then double click the icon to install into your phone. Please make sure that your phone is attached to the pc and the phone is recognising that it is running pc suite. It is a simple solution to all your problems! Why? This is because with fring, so long as you have internet add-on to your mobile plan, you do not need to pay extra money by using fring (please make sure that you have sufficient inclusive minutes and also if you want to call people through skype (within fring), you would have to have sufficient credits on your skype).

You can sign into your msn messenger, skype, yahoo messenger, ICQ, Google Talk and AIM. You can also chat with your friends on msn messenger using fring without paying extra money (using the internet add-on). Sound quality on the msn messenger, using fring, is good and even better than using skype on fring. I would recommend people to use fring. You can also install some fring add-ons like facebook which is a plus. I love to use it.

On the other hand, you could try to download and install eqo. Just pop your mouse to www.eqo.com and install eqo into your s60 devices. Eqo can manage your yahoo messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, AIM and even QQ！Unfortunately, it does not manage Skype, which is a pain. However, with eqo, you can reload your credits, just like skype, to make outgoing calls and send very cheap text messages to anyone around the world. Isn't it great? I think it is brilliant as it has QQ. I like to use QQ very much but not many people have QQ chat client.

Apart from the above two chat clients, there are individual chat clients for download and use. One good example will be yahoo messenger, msn messenger and skype on your s60 devices. They are good but it is a hassle as you would have to open three applications before you can chat with your friends in different chat clients. With fring or eqo, you can get access to many friends on different chat clients. Isn't it great? I think so. Good luck!
