Q: If you think that the phone is transmitting a high frequency sound and it does not charge first when you plug in the USB or the wall charger, hold on to your horses! Just wait for about ten minutes and see whether the phone is charging. If not, remove the battery and then put it back again. That might solve the problem. It happens some times when you have personalised firmwares (like customised firmwares from Vodafone and O2).
Q: If the phone freezes before it shuts down, don't panic! What you need to do is to remove the battery and put it back on before switching it on again. If that does not help, you might want to reflash the phone. Just connect your phone to Nokia Service Update to reflsh the firmware on the phone. That might help to solve some initial bad flash from the company whom you purchased the phone from. If that does not help, you might want to return the phone (within the stipulated warranty period) and get another phone of the same model or get a refund.
Q: If you experienced drop calls and the phone shuts down often, likewise I have mentioned earlier, you just need a good reflash of the firmware. Always make sure that you have a proper charge of your phone. Always make sure that you finish using the battery or ensuring that the battery is almost flat before you do another recharge. Otherwise, you are going to wearout the battery faster than you can imagine!
Q: If you want to modify your phone's firmware, I have to say that unless you want to invalidate your phone's warranty, please DON't do it!!! Well, if you resist, I can teach you a away to modify your phone's firmware. Some of you might not like to have a customised firmware from an operator and hence, you would like to have a generic firmware which is, sometimes, much better and leaner firmware compared to a customised firmware. If that is what you want, you need to do the following procedure:
(1) Hook up the Nokia 6500 classic to Nokia Suite and make sure that the phone is connected to the computer;
(2) Look up on the internet for Nokia 6500 Classic Product Codes and choose one which is suitable for the phone and for your language;
(3) Install Nemesis Service Suite and then fire up NSS. Click on the top far right icon to search for your phone and then click on the second icon to your left; If NSS is successfully run, it will display your phone's current firmware. Once this is done, you need to check on the box to your right which states 'enable' - The box which states 'Write' - First box only...You need to key in the product code which you have chose. After that, just press enter and NSS will change your phone's product code. Once this is done, shutdown NSS;
(4)Fire up Nokia Update Services and click on update...You would have to follow the prompts. Good luck! Oh yes, you need to have a fully charged battery with you when you try to flash your mobile phone.
Have fun!!!
