English for Everyone

I am quite in agreement with the current education minister of Malaysia in stressing the need of students in mastering English. In fact I was more appauled b the way how some people in Malaysia criticising the government for introducing Mathe and Mathematics in English. I don't see a problem in learning and taking the exam in English. Do you know why?

It has been more than two decades since Tun Mahathir took charge as a PM of Malaysia. He was the brainchild in introducing Malay as the first language of Malaysia. In doing so, students are required to study all necessary subjects during their time in primary and secondary school in Malay. They are also required to take their PMR and SPM (equivalent to British's GCSE) in Malay. Well, what is the result as of now?

We have students who are incapable of speaking and writing properly in English. Oh well, what can we do now? There is also a fiasco where some people are demonstrating the idea of teaching and learning Maths and Science in English. I don't see the point in demonstrating though. In fact, I believe that it is high time for the government to overhaul the education system by asking students to be taught in English. They also have to take their exams in English. What do you think?
