Internet Censorship

I don’t think the government can really censor the internet. If they really do it, they will have to employ man people to do the job which is very much of a fruitless exercise. The government can, on the other hand, employ a group of people to filter the internet bit by bit but they can’t just shut down the internet. This is cruel because it will just stop freedom of information being disseminated to the public.

Malaysia’s position is different from China. China is a big country and they have the labour resources to deal with internet censorship. Men and woman are easily recruited to do the job and they will do so without any fuss. Unlike China, Malaysia does not have the labour resources which they need. They could, however, employ a team to filter pornographic sites but other than that, there is another problem.

They could, however, filter political sensitive sites like Malaysia Today. Wouldn’t it be the government’s plan to stop people from discussing about what the government is trying to do? Malaysia is different from China as Malaysia have many opposition parties where else in China, there is only one party and that is the Communist Party of China. Just chill and relax about filtering the internet. If they do so, Malaysians will be seeking information elsewhere.
