Subsidies

I just don't understand why the fuss in the issue of discontinuing subsides by the government. A member of parliament has said yesterday during a press conference that if the government is not going to do anything about it, the country will go bankrupt by 2019. I am sure that it is not a pretty sight if the country were to go down in History as the very first country to stay under in Asia.

The government could discontinue subsidies. What is important is that the government should stop subsidies and then release fuel as part of their controlled item. Why not let the market to determine the fuel prices instead of the government doing so? I am sure that the government will have lots of things to worry about. It is important that the government should let go of their control of fuel prices.

This is something which will let many people down but it is good for the people. If there is a low demand for fuel, fuel prices will drop and vice-versa. What is the problem over there?

Off course it's a big fuss when cuts of subsidies also mean a cut in Bumiputera subsidies which involves 70% of the issue!

I think it is just plain dumb if they are going to cut subsidies and put those monies saved into other people's hand...I wonder what Vincent Tan has to say when he was given the gambling licence recently by the government? Strange, isn't it?

I fully support Vincent Tan's gambling licence. I admire his business courage & foresight and the benefits his business would bring to Malaysia is PRICELESS!!!

And our PM is foresighted enough to approve Vincent's business as it would bring in heaps of revenue into Malaysia. And i admire Najib even more because he has not only approved the business, he has chosen to ignore the anger among foolish muslims here!

Have you forgotten about Vincent TNbeing one of BN's man, a runner for the government?

That's irrelevant. Vincent Tan just like another Msian Tycoon should have the freedom of business and trade. There shouldn't be any issues.

It might be irrelevant to you but not for many other people though. That was why one of the reasons why the opposition won the Sibu by election this time.

The Opposition won sibu due to many factors. Nothing to do with the freedom of the Chinese doing business. Infact, The Chinese are asking more business opportunities. Vincent Tan is who he is do to his own brilliance, hardwork and Good PR. Not forgetting with his own money!

You seem to have a problem when chinese tycoons are in favour of the federal government and vice versa.

You do have a problem in just accepting the way it is and forget to ask the reason why. Why not other people but Vincent Tan?

Because Vincent Tan has always been interested in this business and the approval never came over night. Whether it's Vincent Tan or some other Chinese Tycoon, I say it's healthy for Malaysia. You do not know what goes on here.

I am very happy that PM Najib has approved it bcos it sends out a strong message to fundamentalist Malays and Muslims here. There has been a frightening emergence of Islamisation in M'sia. Hence having a gambling business owned by a Chinese sends out a very strong message of Malaysia being Cosmopolitan and Not a Fundamentalist Islamic Country.

I am looking at the bigger picture. Why do we need to be so Anti Vincent Tan? He is bringing in Billions into the The Malaysian Ecocnomy and i am sure that his new business venture is going to elevate him higher in Malaysia's Richest List.

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against him getting the licence. If you read between the lines, I was merely questioning the way in which he was selected. Have you ever ask yourself why? e
