Freedom of speech?

Just had news that the Malaysian government is proposing that all Malaysian bloggers would have to register themselves with the government. What would be your position then? Are you all happy about it? Well, it is a mixed bag of thought. On one hand, it is good that no defamation suits are being brought up against any party but the negative thing is that someone might be trying to hide the truth from the public especially big corporation!!! Well, in that case, what would you do then?

Lately, there has been a few bloggers who were being sued by NSTP, asking them to remove some articles from their blogs and if they don't, NSTP will bring an action against them. Well, what would you think then? Are those bloggers going to be liable for any defamation suits against them?

I am quite sad but it is true. Please read the news here and here. Tell me what do you think. Even Marina Mahathir is against that idea of requiring bloggers to register. Oh dear... I am trying to be fair to both sides. I just want the truth like anybody!!! What is the matter with these people? Read more here.

On the subject of Freedom of Speech in Malaysia, Recently the Court of Appeal ruled unfairly in the Case of Subashini. Subashini & her husband are Hindus with two children. However, the Husband decided to convert to Islam. Now he want his two little children to convert as well. He as managed to convert his first born & now proceeding to covenvert the second child. Subashini who is wife & mother tiik up the matter to the Court of Appeal because she doesn't want her children to become muslims because by them becoming muslims, She aotomatically loosers custodial rights of her own children. That's the current precedent in Malaysia whereby Islam & the Syariah Court is More Supreme than the High Court! Now, just think of this for a moment, when a non muslim spouse converts to Islam, the Civil Marriage automatically becomes null & void! Now, the Muslim party looses custody of his/her children if the children remain non muslims. So either way, the children will have to loose one parent!

The Catholic Archibishop of Malaysia, Most Rev.Datuk Murphy Pakiam (PJN,DD)is fuming about Shubashini's case as it is a down right obstruction of Justice whereby Islam & Syariah can intrude any non muslim civil marriage & create distruction in the institution of Marriage! Archbishop is right & yes, it is unconstitutional & is a persecution to non muslims in this country.

This is outrages & absolute Madness! How can Islam intrude the Civil Marriages & How can Islam make non muslim spouses subjected to Islamic Laws?!This is really unbecoming & a down right persecution to Non Muslims in Malaysia. What sort of Legal System are we having in this Former British Coloney? Our Malaysian Legal System is unfit to be upheld, infact even the gabbage bins would reject!

I do appreciate your contribution towards this blog and thank you for reminding me. It is such a shame that such things are happening right now. I wished that it could have been different.
