Beyond

You can say that with the loss of Wong Ka Kui (黄家驹), Beyond have lost their sole vocalist. I beg to differ. Wong Ka Kui's brother, Paul and the rest of the band members are also equally good in their compositions and also in singing although the bulk of the compositions were mainly Wong Ka Kui's. You can't blame people of saying that their music is old and ugly.

The fact is that they make music! This is what I called pure music! If you really listen to their music, you would notice that they are music genius! They compose their music by themselves, just like Lee Hom (王力宏). I can tell you why I say that they have created pure music. Will you feel bored after listening to their music for a thousand times? I don't feel bored at all. In fact, I feel that their music is excellent and I will continue to listen to their music.

No doubt that the band members have gone their separate ways after a good twenty years or more, it does not matter. Look at Queen! They are still rocking despite of the loss of their then lead singer F Mercury.

p/s: Lee Hom has released a brand new album...Check it out!!!

Avril Lavigne

I was really excited to hear that Avril Lavigne was going to hold a concert in Malaysia in conjunction with the Merdeka celebration. It was almost spoilt by the PAS Youth Member when they said that the concert is going to corrupt the youth's mind. What on earth is that? Can they ever think that by going to see a rock concert like Avril, it will really corrupt the minds of the people? What about Malaysian rockers then? Is PAS Youth going to stop them from holding any concert? How come people always stop the country from holding a potential concert where it will provide a good opportunity for the country to earn some money?

Malaysia is an advanced country. Sometimes, I just do not understand how some people would think like a third world country. I just don't. I do understand that PAS Youth is trying to make a come back but I think this is not the case. The funny part was that they distributed leaftlets to people who entered the stadium for the concert last night. What a bummer! It nearly spoilt the show! Come on PAS Youth, give people a break, will ya?

King of Pop

What do you think about Michael Jackson? He is the ultimate cool person in this world! Oh yes! Anyway, he has been trying to earn some money these days and he has released his greatest hits of all time. This, I think, will be another way of trying to earn some money and I think it is all down to his fans. Personally, I think I might want to buy his album through Sony website where you can just pay and download. It is much cheaper to do it that way rather than buying the cd from the shop. It will most probably cost you around £13.99 when it is available in the store and it is expensive.

When I say it is expensive, you might think that downloading is expensive as they do charge around 79p for one song (through itunes). Oh well, we will see about it then. Right now, I think I would wait and see then. I have no doubts about the king of pop. He is the greatest!!!

Oasis

This has nothing to do with Oasis, the infamous British rock band who managed to rock many male and female fans around the world. Instead, it has something to do with someone whom I met back in 2003. I have no interest in her and we had no chemistry at all but I was quite willing to help her in every single way that I can. At that time, she came to UK to study English and her favourite song was Oasis's Whatever. I can remember she telling me that she is under a lot of pressure from home. She was just 18 years old at that time and such a confused child.

I do remember that she came to my house and we sat in the garden. She has to tell me her problems because she thinks that men are always bad. I could not stop her from thinking about men being bad because what she has gone through back in Japan. She was dumped by her boyfriend after a few years together. Since then, she could not accept anyone in her life. She thinks that men only wants sex all the time and never think about a woman's feelings. I told her that that is not true. Not all men are bad. It is true! There are still good men out there...

Gradually I managed to comfort her and I can feel that her level of confidence in accepting another man in her life is almost complete. I just could not hold back my joy. You know, it is really hard for me to persuade her because most of the men she met back in Japan just want her for sex. That is all. Poor girl!!!

Do you know what? She then fell in love with a Scot! That was really good! Although they do have language barrier, it does not matter because love conquers all. She likes Oasis's Whatever. She would just play that song over and over again until I would get annoyed but I am alright. Right now, it brings back good memories and I am glad that I knew her. I still have her address in Japan. Hum...It is good that I get in touch with her to see how is she doing back in Japan. I hope that she has finished her studies in Tokyo University and having a good job now. Well, fingers crossed... I think I should give her a call (if she has not changed her telephone number), don't you think so?

What am I trying to say is that if you ever have any problems, just stick to the fact that you want to solve the problem and gradually you will be able to conquer the problem - stand firm!!!

Ice Ice Baby

During my younger days, I have always liked Vanilla Ice because he is the first white male rapper who is successful in his career as a rap artist. That was those days where his number one hit single 'Ice Ice Baby' hit Hollywood and everyone was singing the song, including myself. I was his fan.

After his debut album, he has since gone AWOL. I Don't know what happened to him after tha. There was no news of him since his debut album. I can remember checking on the internet about him but nothing about him until we have Wikipedia.

Anyway, he is truly great. No doubt that Eminem is great, he is better than Vanilla Ice because he sold more records than Vanilla Ice. However, one cannot deny that Vanilla Ice started the whole 'white rapper' thing in the USA.

Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love

I was so amazed by the singing of Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" that I nearly cried. She is the winner of this year's 2007 X-factor and she released a very good single targetting this year's Christmas number one which is looking very promising of achieving it. In fact, "Bleeding Love" took over Sugarbabes' "About You Now" to take the number one spot. Within a short span of time, she has sold 217,000 copies of the single. Yeah!!!

The more I look at the lyrics reminds me a love story which I would not be able to forget. It is about a love which seems to last but it did not in the end. At one end, you lose something and the other, something new will open for you. There are so many abnormalities in love which seems to be so unsustainable nowdays. What we need is trust and unconditional love towards our partners and our spouses. We need that. It is a top priority and nothing will be able to rock a solid relationship if we stay by these rules.

Love is eternal!!! Just look at the lyrics below and you will understand...

LEONA LEWIS LYRICS

Bleeding Love

Closed off from love
I didn't need the pain
Once or twice was enough
And it was all in vain
Time starts to pass
Before you know it you're frozen

But something happened
For the very first time with you
My heart melts into the ground
Found something true
And everyone's looking round
Thinking I'm going crazy

But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open

Trying hard not to hear
But they talk so loud
Their piercing sounds fill my ears
Try to fill me with doubt
Yet I know that the goal
Is to keep me from falling

But nothing's greater
Than the rush that comes with your embrace
And in this world of loneliness
I see your face
Yet everyone around me
Thinks that I'm going crazy, maybe, maybe

But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open

And it's draining all of me
Oh they find it hard to believe
I'll be wearing these scars
For everyone to see

I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open and I

Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love

Take That!

I am really happy to see that there is an improvement in terms of relationship between Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams. I really hope that Robbie Williams will rejoin the group in their next tour. After all, I don't think the group is 'complete' without Robbie Williams. It is like one needs OXO cubes to finish the gravy. Without that, it is not a complete soup at all. Hum... Think about it then. Take That with Robbie Williams will be just great!

BEYOND

Have you heard about the band called BEYOND? It was a band formed by two brothers with their two friends back in the 1980s. I think some of you would have known about them. I do remember the group. It was a massive group and I loved their songs. They do have songs like 'Amani', ‘真的爱你’,‘海阔天空’,‘喜欢你’ and many many more. Oh, I do really love those songs.

To think about it, I was still in my primary school when they were made famous. I do remember that I sang two songs from that group on the last day of my UPSR day. Oh, it was excellent. It brought me back to many memories which I do really cherish. I can remember the reason why I had to sing even though I sounded crappy in singing Cantonese songs.

Nevertheless, I managed to sing two songs which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. My song was directed to one girl and after that day, I was approached by that girl and everything else was history. I was in cloud nine. That was great!

Coming back to the group BEYOND, it was such a misfortune for them. They lost a key member of the band in 1994 where the said band member died while performing in a recording studio which was held in Japan. I really miss their songs.

Even though they have lost their key member, they continued to write songs and lyrics in memory of their fallen band member. The first production after Ka Kui's death was '二楼后座' and I could see that they are still really close as a team and the bond was terrific! It was really good to see such a united band. Well, I could not say that all other bands are not united. It was just that I am impressed with their unity.

Anyway, the trio was said to have parted their ways two years ago. There goes BEYOND. It was the end of an era which we saw glorious days of the band of over two decades. 黄家驹,安息吧。我们永远都会记起你的歌。
