Reading through The Star Online, MCA Public Services and Cimplaints Department head Michael Chong described the extension as 'good news'. I am sure that he had come across so many difficulties in the past and this remark will be a new chapter in the Malaysian history. As for me, I am overjoyed. What can I say? Bravo!!!
I think foreign spouces married to a Malaysian should be given the automatic right to remain in the country as long as they remained married. If not, it would be a hassle as mentioned by many people that it will be a long process before foreign spouses can continue to stay in Malaysia.
Think about it. Will foreign spouces be put off by the current system before the change? Yes indeed. The move is welcomed by many people including me. I do support the move indefinately! I love it! If I were to get married to a foreigner, I will be assured that my spouce will be happy enough to stay with me in Malaysia and feel more comfortable rather than all those red-tape.
I do understand from the view point of the government that in relaxing the existing rule might encourage fraud. I think we are just too careful sometimes that it might lead to severe red tape. In the end, nobody will like to remain in the country for long as things could not get done as soon as it is possible.
You can find the whole story here.
You know what? There should be more relaxation of rules pertaining to Malaysian marrying foreigners who wished to remain in Malaysia. This will enable those people to generate revenue for the country as they are expertise in their field(s). think about it.
