Surprise surprise

Wow, just imagine what would the public think about election these days? Within days of the by election at Permatang Pauh, what did the PM said? 'We'll reduce petrol and diesel prices.' Would it work? Would it enough to justify for the sake of BN? Will the move improve BN's chances of being the winner?

Frankly, I don't have the answer. I think we will know who is the winner if we watch the news when the elction results are announced. Before that, let's recap. The government under BN has decided to increase fuel charges (petrol and diesel) due to the 'temendous increase' in bulk oil prices. As a result, we saw petrol and diesel prices jumped to record highs in Malaysia. What is more annoying is that the PM announced that such prices might continue to rise in the foreseeable future taking into account the violatile market.

Later, he said that petrol and diesel prices will be monitored closely and changes will be made on a monthly basis. The earliest date for any changes will be in September 2008. What have we got here? Oh, it is not yet one month and what happened? We saw a reduction in petrol and diesel prices. Is he going back to his words? Did he reduce the prices due to the upcoming by election in Permatang Pauh? Is he thinking that perhaps, by doing so, the people will be more favourable to BN, right?

Have we forgotten about the debate regarding petrol and idesel prices initiated by Anwar lately? He was saying that fuel prices should drop. He was right... I think the government had no choice but got to reduce fuel prices. Even the Petronas Chairman was removed from his duty because he was not in the same wave length as the PM regarding the need of Petronas to foot the bill on everything.

I think this is not the end of the matter. There will be more to come...I am sure about it.

Anwar may win but with a lower majority this time, this is my forecast & we will see what's the outcome.

Honestly, what Anwar said has some truth in it. :)
