China's Export

I can understand that even the mighty China has to bow down to pressure from the unexpected - rise in petrol and diesel prices. Yes, the latest figure shows that China's export has decreased a little and it was less than the same period for last year. The report blamed the rise in petrol and diesel prices as the cause of the decrease.

I think what is important is that the decrease in export was a direct result of the increased in petrol and diesel prices. What else could that be? When there is a rise in petrol and diesel prices, traders will eventually pass on the cost to customers. Eventually, consumers will be hit by the higher cost.

Last night, the Bank of England has issued a statement stating that UK might not have any growth at all for the coming year as the credit crunch is hitting hard on UK. I think it is a global issue. What is important is that at short term, the governer should release some funds to financial institutions. I do understand that the BoE has done so. The question is where have the funds gone?

Beijing, I'm Ready

Oh yes, just witnessed the opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing through BBC live. For those of you who witnessed the opening of the games, you will noticed that the ceremoney was spectacular. I could not imagine anything that come close to it for many years. What a show! The crowd was excellent and boy, the ending was way much better! There was a tremendous roar when the Chinese team was being introduced in the end. Excellent show by the Chinese government!

I was told that they have spent around US$43 billion for the past seven years and I think it is good. I think what lies ahead is the oppportunity of precious gold medels during the Olympic Games in the coming two weeks!

中国,加油!

Enviornmental Friendliness

I think you all must have heard about the devastating effect of air pollution in China considering that the 2008 Olympic games is going to be held in Beijing for the first time in two centuries. Nevertheless, many people criticised the way how the government tackle air pollution in China as opposed to what has the government done to minimise air pollution.

China is a big country over 1 billion in population. Competitiveness is a key element in surviving in China. Not everyone is fortunate enough to send their sons and daughters for overseas education.Nontheless, it is important to see what has development done for China.

We see that pollution is a key factor as one of the results of development. I have to say that the air quality in Shanghai right now is not that brillant. I don't think people will deny it. However, such development is necessary for the upcoming 2010 games which is going to be held in Shanghai. Well, what can people say about it? When there is development, it will bring foreign investment into the country and there is where people will earn their money - through business ventures. Look at China Telecom. Although the company is owned by the government, they seek ventures outside China into Pakistan and Hong Kong (which is now China) too. In this way, the government will be able to provide a better service to the people.

If you are about to travel to Shanghai, never forget to make use of the underground train. It is fast and efficient. Most importantly, it is well ventilated - air cond! You can also get mobile signals when you are underground, in the lifts and also onboard the tube station (in the underground train). Can you get signals when you are onboard the underground tube in London? I guess not!!!

You will also see that people are willing to use electrical bicycles as a form of their mode of transport. More and more people are using electrical bicycle nowdays. You may see that one vehicle which looks like a motorcycle but it is actually an electrical motorcycle. Irony, isn't it? The government is trying to encourage its citizens to recycle. In Shanghai, you need to pay for a shopping bag which is the same as in Ireland. If you do not want to pay for a shopping bag, get yourself a recyling bag then. Don't you think it is good! I think so! Excellent, isn't it?

Obviously, we could not afford to miss the issue of air ad sound pollution in China. It is the fact that when you are talking about emerging markets, there are bound to be pollution here and there. It is unavoiable. The more pressing issue is whether the government is doing something about it. In this case, the government is doing something about it and so stop bickering about China not doing its job to minimise air pollution, ok?

With the Olympic games two weeks away, I wish China all the best!!!

Remember China

Not too long ago, we were devastated by the news of the massive earthquake in China which let to about 80,000 people dead, most of them were children. Now, we have something to cheer about.

Yes, I am talking about the Olympics game coming up on 8/8/08 in Beijing. It is a fantastic time to have the game in China because they earned it. What is most important is that China has been growing steadily for the last decade and they have the infrastructure to hold such an international event. I have no complains about it.

In fact, I think it will be a good thing for China because people will be able to spend more money when they are in China for the duration of the olympics. However, the government is pretty concerned about the terrorist attack on its soil and they have taken steps to counter the possibility of such an attack.

Besides utilising strict EU laws governing people who wants to enter China by air, the govenment has taken similar steps in beefing up security measures onboard railway stations too. In fact, China has one of the fastest high speed electrical trains in the world which is runned by CNR. I have to tell you that I have experienced a CNR train moving at the speed of 216 km/h - silent and steady. It takes only half the journey of a typical charcoal or petrol driven engine train from point A to B. Well, the new trains certainly cost the government a lot of money but consumers are to be benefitted because they only pay a little bit more before they can enjoy the luxury of the new high speed train.

I have to tell you that China has grown a lot. Obviously prices of goods have increased but nevertheless, there are many cheap places to have your meal and buy your stuff. If you are in Shanghai and looking for books, get to Shanghai Bookstore which has seven floors. You will love it! Wish you best of luck China in the Olympics!!!

China's death toll escalates to 50,000

China's earthquake aftermath has seen to the death toll escalating from 15,000 to 50,000 and the numbers are fast increasing with thousands missing. This is just too much to accept, unnecessary lives of the innocent perished for no rime or reason. The reasons for such acts of mother nature largely remains unknown, only God knows.

What has happened here is a disaster that cannot be fixed and China remains helpless and I really wander if anything constructive can be done, well, at least for the survivors. I am just very surprised that so many parts of China have been badly destroyed, infact to bits and pieces but the strange thing is Tibet that's located so close to the disaster, was left untouched and safe....

China's Death Toll surpasses 15,000!

China's earthquake aftermath has left more than 15,000 dead, many foreigners are missing which includes 29 Malaysians. The provinces that have been badly destroyed are; Wen Chuan, Mianzhu, Bei Chuan, Hanwang, Dujiang Yan, Maoxian and Shifang. This catastrophe leaves the Chinese government in a dire situation where the impact cannot be evaluated and the exact amount of casualties remain yet unknown.

It's time for all religions in the entire world to come together and Pray to God to take control of this situation and do what is best in this moment of unmitigated disaster and loss of innocent beings. I hope and pray that more will be rescued and saved. At this point, it's best left in the hands of God but the rescue operations must remain effective and reliable.

I am quite relieve that China is quite open to the world at large, unlike Burma. It is feared that there will be another cyclone coming to Burma, just two weeks after Cyclone Nagis. China is doing their bids and showing the world that with their ever ready men in tights, they can mobilise their troops to help the people. I have utmost confidence with the Chinese army. Bravo!!!

China faces disaster

A 7.8 Magnitude earthquake has hit Sichuan Province killing 10,000 people and the death toll is fast increasing. This is China's worst tragedy in 30 years where 80% buildings have collapsed leaving the entire province in a disaster that leaves the death toll fast increasing and thousands missing. I am extreamly disturbed by this tragedy because such magnitude of damage, loss and deaths can never be repaired, healed and replaced.

It's a Catastrophe that changes the history of China and will forever remain a black stain in the history of China. Nothing can mend this disastrous impact, all i can do is to cry and pray hard to God Almighty, He is our only Saviour in desperate times like this. I'm thinking of all those pregnant mothers and innocent little children, all gone and brutally killed so barbarically.

Oh My God, We only have you in this dire situation, Send forth your Spirit and your Army of Angels and do what is best Oh My Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Updates:

0842 GWT: It has been reported that the toll on China earthquake disaster has reached 10,000. Check it out here.

14 May 2008: It seems that the toll of the quake will rise and as of now, it is standing at 26,000. More rescue attempts have been made but the toll will set to rise because many building collapsed and people are being buried under the rooftop. Many foreign rescuers are in China to help out and my heart goes out to all the people in China. Read the latest news here.

Olympic Torch

Finally, the Olympic torch is in ! Check this page and you will see it. Oh well, I am really happy that the Torch has finally made to arrive in Malaysia! I am so happy! I don't think that there will be much of a security risk in Malaysia as anyone who causes trouble will be subjected to jail sentences. I don't think people will want to risk it.

Anyway, it will be just under five months before the game begins in Beijing. I am so looking forward to it. Not that I like it but I just want to see who is the best!
